Yea, I read it right. AMY shows up, but you're connected to the LINKSYS =
SSID, which is your network. AMY could be the neighbor, or sometimes an =
old network it had seen and didn't remove.

I've been researching a few things, but to no avail. Still searching and =
hoping, but so far doesn't look good. I'm hoping that someone on the =
list here has successfully networked a Windows XP Home machine with an =
XP Media machine, to see if they did anything different. But, from the =
facts, the problem here is that you are not connecting to the network. =
You connect to the Linksys, but not the network.

One other thing you can try... Linksys has a 24 hour tech support line. =
I've used them once before. The hold time was quite awhile, over an =
hour, but eventually someone came on and help me with a problem I was =
having. Why not see if you can give them a call?

I probably wasn't really clear on this one! I'm not connected to amy, =
just that amy showed up in my list.
but I was wondering why on the laptop, the one area I looked at that =
said linksys was grey'd out.=20
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
WINDOW- properties:
ok - under wireless networks properties, I click on linsksys and =
properties.=20
I get a box - association tab - says network name (SSID): it has linksys =
there, but it is gray'd out.=20
network authentication is open
data encryption is disabled.=20
interestting - if I look at choose a wireless network, it says linksys - =
connected, unsecured wireless network.=20
under that is amy - secured, and default, unsecured.=20
wondering if amy is my neighbor... we used to pick up pete's system, but =
never amy's.=20
Cris and Troth
  Somewhere in all your messages back and forth, it seems like Cris said =
she was connecting to a network called amy.  This is not her network; =
she needs to connect to her network.   I think on the laptop she will =
need to change the SID.  Sorry I am on digest and all messages back and =
forth have about twenty instances of the "please delete this line and =
everything below it" tag line and I cannot find that particular message =
Cris sent that seemed to indicate this.
