Hi,

Right click on the file with your mouse. Choose "Open
With" - Some programs will then be listed including
Open Office - but do not choose Open Office - scroll
down the list until you highlight "Choose Program" at
which point another list pops up and at the top is a
list of recommended programs. Select Open Office and
and the bottom there is a check box for "Always use
the selected program for this file" so check that box
as well.
