Okay - I guess because he lives way out in God's country, he doesn't get a 
modem like I have for my cable - all he does is hook the computer up to a 
phone line so if there is a modem then it's inside the computer - my son is 
thinking he should just bring it back to Staples but if you know something 
simple he could still try I'll get it to him - thanks - Dolores
