Do you have the outgoing mail server set to smtp.gmail.com?  It sounds like
you have the incoming mail server set correctly to pop.gmail.com, so I'm
hoping you just have a typo in the outgoing server.

How does one get gmail to leave the ISP outgoing box? So far I can GET the 
gmail into OE but it won't LEAVE OE??? Whats the trick???
