-=PCTechTalk=- Re: getting disconnected

HI Gman,

I think I sorted it out, I am on dial up. Earthlink did not fix it, I think
I did. But I cant tell you exactly how. They changed a port setting on my
outgoing and I ended up changing it back and then it worked right. I cant
recall what else I may have changed. All the sudden tonight I just started
having trouble everytime I wanted to send an email in OE, I got knocked
offline every time. I was getting ready to try system restore next.

Cristy,
If nothing was done within your system (no updates, no new app
installations, no changes to settings, etc.), then don't go changing any
settings now to try and 'fix' it. Chances are very good that this is a DSL
delivery issue that's occuring well outside of your home. Do you know
anyone else in your area that is also a DSL customer of theirs? See if
they're having a similar issue if you do.

Can you nutshell the conversation you had with Earthlink? Was any part
of it to determine if there was a problem with the connection itself or did
you focus on your email with them? Did they specifically say there were no
issues with your area's overall DSL connection? etc.

Peace,
Gman
