I wish you lots of success with your healing...
the bad thing about fusions is that eventually most people need more, esp above
& below the site...
If you every need another ( I hope not!) ask if they will use a donor bone, I
had that, so I did not at least get the residual hip pain. My hubby said his
hip hurt longer than the actual surgical site !
We always get advice to exercise & move it ! well it is not always that easy,
and we would if we could. what usually happens with me, if I am having a good
day, I do to much & then payback hurts 4 times longer !
but we do have to try & move. I have a good tape my rheumy recommended called
gentle fitness. It was made, by & for people with disabilities that may not
have full functions or have movement pains.. you can do as much as you feel
like & at your own pace. and the audience that participates in the exercises
are from all walks of life... some in wheelchairs , so they do modified
movements. No bouncy or jarring movements.
Ay least you feel like you can accomplish some of them & the more you follow
the tape the father you go. and it is always gentle , You know your body best &
how much it can tolerate... and you don't get that looked down upon feeling ,
for not being able to lift 100#s or run a mile .
healing hugs,
Faythe
>>>thanks. . .I did that for three months before the last spinal fusion. .
.the first spinal fusion after the accident severely weakend the
vertebrae and discs above and below the fracture. I had to have all
three fused with hip bone and now they are talking about doing the one
above and below and that means a halo because we are at 2/3 and I am
putting it off as long as I am not losing any more function. I have
nerve damage from the neck down. . .and severe nerve damage from L 4-5
down on the left side. . .in the last month I have had to give up
walking without a cane and go back to a leg brace. . .stuff happens and
I don't even bother with the "why me" question any more. . .it might
just as well be "why not me?"
I am so glad you have gotten some relief. I know that there are others
on the list that have gone through their share of this type of injury,
too. . .and I pray that they find relief. . .we just were not meant to
walk upright. . .<grin>
