-=PCTechTalk=- Re: firefox question

Cristy,
Relax. Adding a browser to your own system can not cause changes or
damage to files on a server. The only issue is that Firefox is not opening
them properly. At least not yet. :O)

If I recall correctly, two of us sent in different methods for declaring
Firefox as the default browser. Is that right? If so, go to Control Panel
 > Folder Options and click on the File Types tab. Press the H key to move
quickly down the list and then manually scroll a little more until you see
the entry for HTM. Select it and then click on the Advanced tab. In the
top text area, it should say Firefox Document. In the list below that,
select Open and then click on the Edit button. Where it says "Application
used to perform action", the contents should read show the following.

C:\PROGRA~1\FIREFOX\FIREFOX.EXE -requestPending -osint -url "%1"

The exact path statement may be a little different depending on where
you installed Firefox, but the extra stuff after it should be intact. Below
that, DDE should have its box checked and the text areas filled with the
following:

"%1",,0,0,,,,
Firefox
(the third one should be blank)
WWW_OpenURL

If anything seems different in yours, let me know the difference(s).
Use Cancel to back out of these windows until you return to the Folder
Options property sheet. Then, repeat these steps for the HTML entry. The
entries should be the same as the one above. When you're done, Cancel out
and close Folder Options.

Peace,
G
