-=PCTechTalk=- Re: file size compare

Hi Mike,
Get out of the dipping tank. I have a few apps that will compare files
byte for byte and point out the dupes. The main one I use is called Clone
Master, but I have chosen to stick with a much earlier version than what's
available now. For one thing, the older one is free. For another, the
newer one is more bloatware than what I care to run.

When it comes to testing mainly image files, I generally rely on an
image organizing app called ACDSee. With the right settings, it can be used
to detect all types of duplicates, but images is still its specialty.
Again, I'm running a much earlier version (3.1) because newer versions add a
lot of bloat without providing anything else I need. This earlier version,
however, isn't freeware.

Other dupe detecting apps include UltraCompare, Duplicate Image Finder
and PixScan 2000. I do not know what the availability of these apps are
since I have used what I have for years without even thinking of upgrading.
A quick web search should point you in the right direction if they are still
available.

Peace,
GMan
