It sounds like you've got a corrupted file somewhere.  The first thing I'd 
do is to go into Safe mode and empty all of the Temp folders & empty the 
Recycle Bin.  Then, try run CHKDSK (check both option boxes for the full 
scan) while you're still in Safe mode.
