-=PCTechTalk=- Re: computer virus problems

Hi Pam and Welcome to PCTT. I'm truly delighted that you're here although I
wish the circumstances were better.

Sandi gave me a quick rundown of the issues you've been having, but your own
description tells us a lot more than we can get indirectly. You have
several infections and it will likely take the combined approach of several
security utilities to get your system completely clean.

The first thing I'd like you to do is to download, install and run a free
program called Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. It's a more modern anti-malware
program than Spybot or Ad-Aware, so it's able to catch more malware (and
remove what it finds). You'll find it at the link below.

www.malwarebytes.org

At the end of the install, it will ask for permission to update its
deatabase and then run a scan. Allow it to do both (you may have to tell
your firewall to also give it permission). At the end of the scan (and
assuming it finds something bad), you will be presented with a window that
contains a button to see what it found. Click that button and then let the
program fix whatever it has found. When it's finished, it will create a
text file explaining what it did. Please Copy/Paste the contents of that
file into a reply so we can see what was found. This last part is very
important because it will help guide us towards the next step we will take,
so give a yell if you're not sure how to complete that step (or any others
along the way).

Peace,
Gman
