Subject: computer virus problem
Sandi referred me to you. Thank you for letting me ask some questions about
my computer. I honestly thought that the problem was fixed professionally
about 3 weeks ago, but they are all returning quickly. I've had over 70
infections within the last 24 hours. Most of them are Trojan viruses. I've
run spybot several times and the same viruses are there again after I've "fixed
the problem" and ran it again immediately.
I noticed a few days ago that Yahoo and Google were not letting me get into
the area that I clicked on. I generally got into distasteful sites and knew
that I had a virus. I've been updateing and running AVG 8, Spybot, and Adware
almost daily.
Yesterday I've had numerous pop-ups with "Antivirus System Pro Alert"
including an unfamiliar icon in my lower bar. I couldn't get rid of it so I
just completed all 3 programs that I've listed about and got rid of several
infections, spyware alert, etc. I had several pornography and viagra
advertisments in the process and have informed all kids to not go into the
computer room. I honestly feel that it needs to be fixed or trashed. My
computer still has a black pop-up when it's turned on stating that my computer
is infected and to run spyware before using it. The black box is still there.
I'm wondering if that is also a virus. I had 32 more infections this morning
after running AVG 8.
I am concerned also that my Windows Security Center is disabled. I read that
in one of my spyware statements and wondered if that needed to be fixed. I
managed to turn the firewall back on when I received that alert.
I'm also wondering if I need better spyware than those 3 that I'm currently
using. Should I subscribe to something that will keep up with all this and
filter them out?
Thank you for your time. I'm hoping that I can keep the computer running
awhile longer before it gets drastically worse.
I have Windows XP.
Thank you,
Pam
