-=PCTechTalk=- Re: cleaning out the computer(what do you suggest?_

Madeleine,

I tried replying privately but your email account kept refusing to accept
any email.

You aren't sunk yet.

What model is your Compaq? We have several rescue discs sets here at the
house which we no longer need as we don't have Compaqs.

Also try booting from the Boot Floppy and see if you can enable CD support
and let me know.

Dave

Dear Dave,
This is what has happened since I got home from Christmas vacation. I tried
to use a compaq quick restore cd (because my pc IS a compaq,) but I didn't
pay attention and it was for the laptop. The CD's to the desktop are gone
and HP?compaq no longer support the model.
With the current windows in the system, I cannot install ANYTHING because it
doesn't recognize a cd rom nor a zip drive anymore. I have a boot disk for a
windows 98 but I think it's a second edition.
I am suspecting I can't fix the mess I made, can I? It is just that we live
so far away from any computer repair personnel that it's me or
nothing....and nothing may be the better choice, LOL
Thanks,
Madeleine
