Yes they do have slave and master settings! I have an LG burner and it has pins on the back for slave, master, csel and something else. I have mine set up with my CDRom as the secondary master, the cd burner is the secondary slave, but to do that I had to put the jumpers on the back as slave and master. Once they are jumpered properly you should just be able to plug them into the IDE cable and connect that to the motherboard and it will find everything.
