-=PCTechTalk=- Re: booting in safe mode with xp

In the order you asked...

Yes, as long as the appropriate drivers/protocols get installed
(modem driver for dial-up, network protocol for broadband) I am not
certain if this gets done though.
Yes
Yes. Internet Explorer security settings can stop ActiveX.
No. Turn it off BEFORE the scan. Turn it back on after the repair
work is done.

Subject: -=PCTechTalk=- booting in safe mode with xp

Hi, I have a few questions. When booting up in safe mode, you can
go online correct? So I can go to trendmicro and run a scan? Also,
something was blocking the scan before, would not let the active x
install to run the scan. This was even after uninstalling nortons
security system and turning off windows firewall. Could something
else be blocking this?
And lastly, should I turn off system restore after running the
online scan for viruses?

Thanks,

Christine
