Okay, this is not specifically about a blocking list, but how to improve the
blocking of junk mail and spam................
No matter how many filters you set up or how many senders you add to a
'blocked' list, eventually your spam receiving will mushroom and grow...
UNLESS:
1) Always use Yahoo, Hotmail, or other web based mail addresses for buying
stuff, registering for sites, etc. Let their 'bulk mail' filters handle the
spam for you! (Save your personal email addresses for people you're sure
of). And if you're checking out something for the first time and are not
sure about the site, lie! Give them a garbage address!
2) And things will improve, but you will still get some spam...
Why? Because spammers create bot programs that send out mass avalanches of
mail to every ISP, with every configuration of alpha lettered addresses
there are, and some of them are even clever enough to pick up the numbers at
the ends of these addresses too!
3) HOWEVER: If you add 3 or 4 random numbers in the random middle of your
address name ( such as "joe4354blow@..." instead of "joeblow@..." or
"joeblow21@...") you have then created a random enough address combination
that bot spammers cannot break thru to you! (At least not yet, anyway...)
And to remember better you can use numbers that are familar to you, such as
a birthdate or a street address...
I know it is a pain to change your personal email addresses, but you should
only have to do this once, and it really works! Along with the judicious use
of my Yahoo address(es), I'm using an address like do1424sk@...home, and I
get NO spam at all in my personal email boxes, bot-generated or otherwise!
Namaste,
drummer
