Thanks for the Links. I have saved them.
What Norton's wants me to do is to JUST remove LiveUpdate and reinstall it.
Not remove the whole thing. Part of their removal instructions was to remove
a registry key. This is the part of their instructions I am referring to.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall
4.Select and delete the LiveUpdate1.6 key.
I did go there, shaking, and found NO LiveUpdate 1.6 key. I emailed them to
this effect today. No answer yet. (PS the puter hasn't blown up, so I guess
I did not goof up the process to bad. :-))
To top it off, this is a program (Rnav2003) that their help desk recommended
and they said it would remove the registry keys for removing the LiveUpdate.
The help desk did not say that it needed to be d/l and did not refer me to
this location. I did a search on my machine, which turned up nothing and I
thought it was part of the 2003 AV I was trying to subscribe to and so told
them. They did not inform me that it was not part of the 2003 AV and/or
could be down loaded separately. To d/l Rnav2003, it said to go to
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/nav.nsf/docid/2001092114452606?Open&src
=&docid=2001061911223206&nsf=nav.nsf&view=pfdocs&dtype=&prod=&ver=&osv=&osv_
lvl=
I Will look further into it tomorrow and then I will recontact them again
with new info I find if warranted.
Of course I will have to completely remove Norton's if the end course turns
out to buy and install another AV. I can do this from the add/remove program
as Norton's 2002 is listed there as there bulletin points out, this is the
best way to remove Norton's. At this point, I am not completely decided.
Thanks for the tip and heads up.
Life is what happens in between plans.
