Froogle returned prices for Acrobat over $100, so the $40 you
mention is a bargain. If I could get a full version for 40 bucks I
would probably jump on it, just for personal use.
Also, regarding 2 users per disk, Adobe allows a single user to
install on two computers as long as they both are NOT used at the
same time. From their website:
"Notwithstanding the terms of the product license agreement included
within a Macromedia branded product, when such a product is licensed
through Adobe's Open Options licensing program (not including
Student Licensing, Site Licensing, and Term Licensing), the primary
user of the computer on which such software is lawfully installed
may install a second copy of such software for his or her exclusive
use on either a portable computer or a computer located at his or
her home, provided that the software on the portable or home
computer is not used at the same time as the software on the primary
computer."
I assume you have a government program of some sort at your college
that the government funds... Research grants or whatever. Next time
the contract or the grant is due renewal, include the cost of the
software in the application. I suspect the government wants you to
have specific features that are available only in the full version
(such as encryption) or the government's contract with Adobe
dictates the requirement.

Subject: -=PCTechTalk=- adobe license question
To make a long story short, the US Government is forcing my
employers (a college) to use the full Adobe Acrobat program, rather
than the reader we used to use.
My boss is a bit upset over the high price. I thought I read
somewhere that Adobe allows 2 users per each disk for its programs.
Is that true?
Somehow, having to pay $40 each for 10 users in my department just
seems too high (college prices).
I hope I've worded this clearly enough. I talk much better than I
write.
Any info you could provide would be great. Thanks.
