Its just the email client that mistakenly took the asterisk as part of the URL. 
Why it did it? Who knows. Its just a bad interpreter of a URL. hehe.
Sometimes you need to get a good look at the URL and you'll see what should or 
should not be there. I looked at the URL it took me to (the ananover address), 
and then looked at the email, and noticed there was an asterisk BEFORE the URL. 
So, obviously, the one at the end of the URL was probably not supposed to be 
there. Tried it without the asterisk and it worked.

No fancy magic.
