it's done now. I think the problem would be that some parts of the program
you're trying to zip would be bigger than one part, it couldn't be extracted
alone, it would need the other parts - do you follow me? I think this is
why it isn't done. Yes, it would work in your method for small files, but
most programs, etc, that are condensed are larger than let's say your 1.4
meg. anyway, that's what I think :))
Hey, why don't you write a program that does what you're thinking :))))

Maybe you are right, I dont know otherwise either. But I dont think it would
be impossible to make a zip program that could create multiple spanned zips;
one could for example set 1.44 megs as max size and have the program add
files to archives (zips) up to that specified size. Granted, not all files
would have the exact size of 1.44 megs but at least one could have actual
zipfiles not dependant on other files to extract.
