-=PCTechTalk=- Re: XP Home-System Restore-Defrag

i'm using XP Home. Got on well with W98, struggling a bit with
this !

1] to get to system restore i hit 'control panel -system-sys
restore tab'; the only choice then is 'on/off' and 'store size'.
is there a way to exercise more control ?
Can i choose when to create a 'sys-restore' file, and
delete existing ones ?

2] XP's Defrag leaves a lot to be desired; anyone know of a
better one, preferable free.
cheers ted

| Sorry for the late response. Just found a bunch of email in
another folder and have no idea how it all got there. This post
happens to be one of them.
System Restore... if System Restore is active, you have the
System Restore services running. Should it be active? Yes, if
you want the protection offered by the service... the safety of
being able to revert back to previous settings. However... if
you have a virus or other baddies on your system, sometimes
copies of the bad stuff will also be saved in the restore
points.
Me, personally, I have it off. I never liked System Restore.
But, many people use it, and many people like it.
