I HAD Norton..long gone. I did a search for both Norton and Symantec.. and 
cleared out left over folder and cleared out registry. AND I can't reinstall 
it..it won't go..it stalls part way thru with some error.  But there must be 
something still left that won't let go..I just don't know where...I was 
using Norton 2006.
I checked OE security but nothing is marked as you suggested..could it be
