-=PCTechTalk=- Re: WinXP picture file handling bugs...

Hi drummer!
I saw your post -- I don't have experience to answer the questions with. I
just
didn't want you to think you were being ignored. <G>

| Hi

| I sent this out once before and didn't get much of a response to
| it. I'm curious to see if anyone else has these bugs in their
| WinXP picture handling, because I would like to send a report to
| MS if they do?
| @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
| There are picture handling bugs in WinXP.
| One is when it comes to renaming a .jpg file?
| In Word, all one needs do is just rename the file in the "File
| Name" window slot, and it can be automatically saved as .doc or
| .txt, depending on what?s in the "Save as Type" slot.
| But when WinXP is saving pictures, one cannot simply rename the
| file and expect the "Save as Type" slot to automatically apply the
| .jpg extension, even if it is preset in the slot! The file name
| must be completely retyped to include a .jpg extension again, or
| else it will be saved as an invalid file type with no extension
| applied!
| This is definitely not the way Win98 works, and it?s certainly not
| anywhere near to being considered an improvement (IMO) in WinXP!!
| The other bug occurs when saving multiple pictures in one folder.
| Click, you save a picture. Click, you save another one, and then
| perhaps another, and another, (and all as the same file type). But
| where are they? WinXP does not show the previous picture files
| saved in a folder as you are saving them. One must close the
| saving folder and completely reopen it again to see all of the
| picture files saved within!
| Again, Win98 does not operate in this inferior fashion, and one
| would almost have to consider this an operating bug!
| And then thirdly, WinXP cannot be depended upon to save .gif
| images. Sometimes it does, but many times it just saves a file
| name on a blank screen?
| @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
| And as far as sending this "bugs" report to MS goes, does anyone
| on this list have a good address for that?
| Thanks,
| drummer
