- Which Duplicate directory are you talking about?
Win XP doesn't duplicate your documents folder elsewhere on the machine.
Your 'my documents' really exist on C:/Documents and settings/your name/my
documents

The My documents folder you see at the top of explorer is not a duplicate,
but a shortcut to the real place.

Subject: -=PCTechTalk=- WinXP file management concepts?

My lady and I use the same sign-in (owner), and the same My Documents to
store things in; we see no reason for all the separate sign-ins and desktops

complications...

Question: So if everything is in the one My Documents directory, why do I
need the duplicate Owner's Documents directory? It seems quite unneccessary

to have all these files duplicated there for nothing, especially since
they're all backed up on a separate hard drive too..!

So, now question 2- What happens if I delete the Owner's Documents
directory? Would WinXP then start foaming at the mouth and refuse to operate

properly? Would it also perhaps spitefully delete all the original files
from the other My Documents directory too?

Also suppose I did keep the Owner's Documents directory, and just deleted
all of the files out of it. Would this in any way affect WinXP's operation,
or delete the original files in the other My Documents directory too?

(The way it is now it looks like a lot of excess file management for
nothing, IMO....)

Thanks,
Greywoulf
