Hi folks,
I found this handy tool:
BitDefender is the first to offer a free tool which disinfects all versions
of Downadup.
This domain is the first to serve a removal tool without being blocked by
the e-threat.

Is your computer infected?
Check our new 30 seconds QuickScan

Known Issues
On systems with UAC (User Access Control) turned on, the ActiveX control
won't start.
You need to turn UAC off until we find a workaround.
On 64-bit systems the client outputs "Some processes cannot be scanned -
insufficient rights" even though the user has admin rights and UAC is
turned off.
There might be other 64-bit issues we're not aware of
(QuickScan hasn't been compiled for 64-bit architectures yet).
I ran it I had to allow active X to scan both my OS's on this dual boot
computer Vista on C and XPpro on F.
IHTH

I don't recall the exact circumstances, but they rated it Important because
Vista is already guarded against getting hit by it when the defaults are in
place. I think the issue was with UAC, but could be wrong. My
understanding is that if the default 'whatever it was' had been changed
(turning off UAC, as one possible example), then the system becomes just as
vulnerable as any XP system to this infection and the patch becomes
Critical. the problem is that Windows Updates doesn't check for the
defaults that matter to this. So, if a user or an app installed by the
user
modifies the specific setting in question, they will still not get the
patch
automatically installed. I see it as a really bad decision on MS's part
for
not making it mandatory for everyone. Of course, all of that is based on
my
understanding of the worm, the patch and the update mechanism in Vista and
I
may be missing an important part of the big picture within any of them. I
just want you folks to be as safe as possible from whatever is going to
happen on April 1st.
Peace,
Gman
