Tell her to start with Malwarebytes Anti-malware.  Spybot has lost its place 
among my own arsenal, but it's still much better than nothing for those who 
prefer free AM apps.  I suggest she uninstall it, run Malwarebytes and then 
either update to the paid version of Malwarebytes to get its real-time 
protection & automatic updating or just reinstall Spybot.

Most online scans are good for detecting infections, but most are now 
designed where you have to pay to have them removed.  Microsoft's OneCare 
online doesn't charge.  It also gets around most of the infections that 
prevent access to most security sites.
