-=PCTechTalk=- Re: Update

Actually, the Doc says the cataract is inevitable and will be ready to be
removed in 6 - 12 moths. Oh joy! <G>

|
| Any idea what might have caused it in the first place?

|
|
| | During a golf tournament on Saturday a week ago, I started
| | loosing vision in my
| | right eye. I'm extremely right eye dominant so this quickly
| | because a real
| | problem. By Tuesday, I'd lost all vision in that eye. I went
| | to an eye doctor
| | on an emergency basis, and the next morning went to see an eye
| | surgeon. I'd
| | temporarily lost vision in my right eye due to a torn and
| | hemorrhaging retina.
| |
| | The good news is I had surgery Wednesday and it went well.
| | Today is the first
| | day since Wednesday that I've been up longer than 15 minutes.
| | It may sound
| | simple, but having to lay on your left side 24 hours a day for
| | four days with
| | your head absolutely level is a bitch! During the operation,
| | they put a gas
| | bubble in your eye and it rises to the top. Then you have to
| | lay in the perfect position so it raises to the exact point of
| | the tear so it holds the
| | vitreous fluid sac, retina, and eye ball together so they can
| | heal properly and
| | not continue to tear and hemorrhage. Over time, the gas bubble
| | weakens and
| | drops, eventually dissolving. In the mean time, it's like
| | looking through a
| | bubble of water that is constantly moving (now that I'm up and
| | about). Thank
| | God I had a good TV and DVD player installed in the master
| | bedroom of this house!
| |
| | The healing seems to be going pretty well. Charlotte flew out
| | immediately when
| | I finally told her what was wrong so I've had excellent nursing
| | care <G> I look
| | like a fighter that got punched in the eye. Next week I'll go
| | for the second
| | post-op to see when I'll be able to fly again - I have to
| | stay here until he
| | says it's OK to fly (that's fine with me <G>). The surgeon
| | also says there's a
| | high probability I'll get a cataract on the right eye as a
| | result of the problem so I may have a second operation in 6 -
| | 12 months.
| |
| | Again, if I missed responding to something, please forgive me.
