LOL 'they' (even tho it isn't really the gov't) can put a roving thing on MARS to take excellent pictures - but they can't do what would then seem like simple things back on earth!! - that 'we' know of! I honestly don't think the gov't will unnecessarily invade citizen's computer's -or privacy - they have many more important things to be dealing with. If there is a reason to be suspicious, then that's a different story. Depends on circumstances... meaning if they have reasonable cause to believe you're doing something illegal... and, no, I'm not sure "how much illegal" it needs to be. I'm sure its harder than believed to get such a warrant... but, not sure. Can it be prevented? Maybe, using firewalls, AV apps, and some common sense. But, you know, this is the government. I'm sure they have stuff out there that can bypass anything we have. Who knows. .::] Sir Troth [::.. _________________________________ AOL: SirTrothX Please, no email at this address! _________________________________ ::: Original Message by Jeff ::: Thu, 29 Jan 2004 11:16:00 -0500 | On the basis of providing updates pertaining to cyber viruses the homeland | security folks have formed an organization called US-Cert. www.us-cert.gov | | My question: Considering that at least some control is desired by agencies | such as the homeland people over us, is it possible and under what | circumstances would it be possible for these agencies to actually themselves | use a method to accompany their e-mails to us and take over or monitor our | systems without our knowledge? | | Please give this some thought. | | Thank you | | Jeff | | To unsub or change your email settings: | //www.freelists.org/webpage/pctechtalk | | To access our Archives: | http://groups.yahoo.com/group/PCTechTalk/messages/ | //www.freelists.org/archives/pctechtalk/ | | For more info: | //www.freelists.org/cgi-bin/list?list_id=pctechtalk To unsub or change your email settings: //www.freelists.org/webpage/pctechtalk To access our Archives: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/PCTechTalk/messages/ //www.freelists.org/archives/pctechtalk/ For more info: //www.freelists.org/cgi-bin/list?list_id=pctechtalk To unsub or change your email settings: //www.freelists.org/webpage/pctechtalk To access our Archives: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/PCTechTalk/messages/ //www.freelists.org/archives/pctechtalk/ For more info: //www.freelists.org/cgi-bin/list?list_id=pctechtalk
