-=PCTechTalk=- Re: Trying to save a "non-savable" Acrobat Doc

This company is doing the same thing as what Serif Software (a
UK company) does. Offer it's earlier versions so you fall in
love with their software. This is simply good marketing.

Well at least it was with me. I buy practically every thing
they make. And I get it for half-price because they have a New
Hampshire office and I got the name of a man there. I have the
review with his phone number on the product review page on my
web site. Anyone can call him and get the same deal. No I'm
not an affiliate (they don't have any) -- I simply love their
software. I use Page Plus, Movie Plus 5 and Web Plus
constantly.

Hi Gman

As you know, I'm the world's worst lurker, but I felt I *HAD* to
respond to
this one. This exposes a VERY interesting little situation.
Futurenet, the
company behind .NET magazine and therefore this offer, make a
big point
regarding overseas subscriptions and sales in their mags, so (by
extension)
the offers they make within those mags must also be available
overseas.
After all, they can't have it both ways: take overseas
subs/funds, but stop
them from enjoying the same benefits as UK subscribers/readers
of the mags
(tho would LOVE to see them try to defend that position in
court......)

Must admit, I'd love to hear what the legal position on this
actually was.
Would be worth getting it checked out--tho you'd probably find
that the
legal position would alter drastically, dependent on the
jurisdiction you
were working within.

Hmmmm.....why does this situation remind me of the old Chinese
proverb "May
you live in interesting times"? Think this could be one VERY
intriguing
little can of worms that's just been kicked over.

Hope This of Help
