P4P800E Deluxe mobo... no onboard video. This whole scenario is really a hypothetical one. The whole gist of this thread is, I'm trying to figure out how, if you have no spare motherboard, video card or monitor, would you test out the components on a system? If we go to a service call, yes, we usually have bigger indicators of what the problem could be. But, in a situation where there's no posting, this can now be any of the components. So... power supply can be tested with a multi-meter. Cables can usually be tested with replacement cables, or more specifically cable testers, which I carry. Is there some crazy geek device someone thought up of that you can connect a monitor to, for example, to produce a signal? ---Troth -----Original Message----- From: pctechtalk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:pctechtalk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Mike Sent: Thursday, October 28, 2004 9:35 PM To: pctechtalk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: -=PCTechTalk=- Re: Trouble-shooting NO POST Hi Troth, does your motherboard have built in video, if you have a video card and on board video disabled you may be able to remove the video card and try enabling the on board card to test the video. I think you should get one beep during boot up in the post test for the power supply. Check for an internal fuse which may have blown. If it has there may be other problems. But, in this particular situation, if there's no post, there's no booting from the CD-ROM, and more importantly, there's no video signal to see it. ---Troth -----Original Message----- From: pctechtalk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:pctechtalk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Mike Sent: Thursday, October 28, 2004 9:14 PM To: pctechtalk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: -=PCTechTalk=- Re: Trouble-shooting NO POST Hi Troth, I downloaded The ultimate Boot CD Image today it has a lot of diagnostics on it. www.ultimatebootcd.com To unsub or change your email settings: http://www.freelists.org/webpage/pctechtalk To access our Archives: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/PCTechTalk/messages/ http://www.freelists.org/archives/pctechtalk/ For more info: http://www.freelists.org/cgi-bin/list?list_id=pctechtalk To unsub or change your email settings: http://www.freelists.org/webpage/pctechtalk To access our Archives: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/PCTechTalk/messages/ http://www.freelists.org/archives/pctechtalk/ For more info: http://www.freelists.org/cgi-bin/list?list_id=pctechtalk
