that wouldn't have been cause by turning off system restore. must have been a
co-incidence.
now - if she actually DID a system restore, she'd lose some things that were put
on after the point she restored to.

Ok thanks  reason I asked a friend had a virus that came through her
Nortons  so she did exactly what Nortons told her to do and one was to
turn off the system restore...she lost everything..almost like a
reformat..shes still
trying to get back what she lost

no you will only delete (lose) your system restore points all your programs,
files etc should still be were you left them.
