-=PCTechTalk=- Re: Transfering to new PC (2) Questions...

You could also get the Bafo Cable for $19.99 with Direct-Linq
software from Tigerdirect.com and what I used to move files
from my old HP to my new Gateway. Also use it to transfer files
to my Laptop.

I love this cable because all I have to do is have both
computers on, click on the software shortcut icons on both
computers and they are connected. Then all I have to do is drag
and drop the files from the one to the other.

This cable will work if you have USB ports on both computers.

There is also an small adapter now which changes USB to serial
ends should your old computer not have a USB thingie. I got one
with my new keyboard I bought from Walmart.

Questions...

Network the two PCs together? How? Can it be done off-line
somehow? Because
if I need to do it thru the DSL lines then it requires a router
and
re-wiring and different DSL codes and setups, right? And that
might then be
more trouble, and more expensive, than a $50 external Zip drive,
no? (We're
only a one PC house...)
