Thank you, Tom,  That's fixed it. It was my old password that was still 
in place, and it never got changed when I had to change it...  my ISP 
accused me of multiple logins and closed me down! What I was doing was 
unplugging my wireless broadband cable and re-inserting the plug in my 
notebook PC. This misled my ISP!
I  guess you're right that the password is so easily accessible. It 
doesn't worry me particularly, as my computer is accessible to me only, 
by and large.
