-=PCTechTalk=- Re: The final word on Confickr/Downadup/Kido including removal instructions

You already know that you have the patch. The patch won't install if you
have the worm, so you're good there, too. Hopefully, the patch is enough so
that the worm can't install if you
have the patch, so we're assuming all is good there, too.

With what you already know, the only thing I'll still suggest is to go tot
he bdtools site and run the scan on your system just to know for sure that
there's nothing there to worry about. As a bonus, it'll scan for other junk
as well and probably ask you to upload a few files for closer inspection. I
was warned to check out a specific DLL file on my system because it was not
fully recognized by Windows. It turns out to be a helper file for an older
app I have installed that was likely optimized for Win2000 or maybe even
Win98SE, but still works fine under XP.

I also downloaded both tools for use after tomorrow. If this thing does
pull some nasty stunts, I want to be as ready as possible to help folks out
of the mess.

You can read up on the scanning tools at the link below or just go straight
to the scan itself using the link below that one. The second link is using
the true IP address for the website in order to get around the worm, which
blocks access to sites with certain words in their names.
