-=PCTechTalk=- Re: Testing .. 3.06 Prescott thermal considerations

Thanx G; Yea I guess I sent it to a friend or family member and they are Like
Ummm Ok lol At a Major geek I found a posting where the guy says he heard from
Intel and got a definite Temp .. But not to worry about it now I have a 80mm
replacement fan until my 120 arrives :) and am watching it .. I cleaned out the
Case and so forth as well and it is staying stable and all ... Thanx G I knew
someone would be able to navigate that Chit :p I got so frustrated and confused
w\ Intel's Site lol

  Hey CC,
I didn't see it come through before this, so you may have sent the
question elsewhere. Regardless, here's what I can provide. If you need
more than this, give a yell. :O)

Since there's no way to get absolute readings of a CPU's true operating
temp, they don't really give the figure you're after. Instead, they discuss
the chips living environment and what temps it can handle. The site below
should give you all the info you're after.

  http://www.intel.com/support/processors/pentium4/sb/cs-004908.htm

If you want to know about the internal environment that different Intel
chips can handle, check out the link below and look for "Table 2" which is
just below the midpoint of the article. You'll see that it shows both
"Maximum Case Temperature" as well as "Maximum Recommended Fan Inlet
  Temperature"

  http://www.intel.com/support/processors/pentium4/sb/CS-007999.htm

  Peace,
  GMan

The only dumb questions are the ones we fail to ask.
