both here and at the library, the only time you get the printer 
icon in the notification area is when it is called for use.

Robert, Just tried that.  That does not work either.  I suspect, 
if I really
want it, I will have to remove the printer and reinstall it with 
the disk.
Don't think I want it that bad.
