-=PCTechTalk=- Re: " Situation Now All Fowled Up "

Hi ... I used my little brain and remembered some thing`s ( will
wonder`s never cease ) ... ( chuckle ) .

When I tried to turn on my Dell today it was not getting power ... no
power light`s or anything ... so I pondered a bit ... and decided to
unplug the power to the tower for 1 minute to allow the PC to reset it
self .

Then I had already made up my mind that when it started to power up to
tap F8 rather rapidly ... which brought up a DOS screen with choices
which included Safe Mode and restart computer to the last good start up
or something like that ... anyway that`s the one that I chose ... then
pressed enter .

Which brought me to a screen which said to make my choice`s as to
re-entering my information for Windows set up ... I can`t remember the
exact wording ... I just followed the prompt`s .

Which eventually brought me to a page that asked if I wanted to
register and have Microsoft connect my computer to the Internet ... I
chose yes and entered my information ... and was taken to a page that
said it was dialing 1-800-857-3121 .

I waited ... then I waited some more ... till the connection timed out .=

This happened 6 more time`s with a waiting period of about five minutes =
   =

each time ... after the sixth time I shut down and went back to my IBM
PC and the dial up connection to take care of my mail .

I am going back to my Dell PC now and try the register/reconnect page
again ... if I am successful I will write from that PC to let you know
how it went .

Talk atcha later,
