My loose connection must have been coincidental because reseating them did
not help.  I went to the service center web site as you suggested
Katherine, entered the details of the error message and the first suggestion
was to check StillImage Monitor in the startup tab.
I went back to start, run, msconfig,startup and re-checked and rebooted and
I am now back in business.  So I guess the lesson learned here is that not
all items in startup tagged with an N--not required--are really Required!!
