Thanks, Kathryn, and to the rest who sent in suggestions. I find I have a loose connection-- I reset the end connected to the scanner and the light came on for a while then went off again. Tomorrow I will check other end of connection before I try the other suggestions. The way I am set up, it is difficult to get to the connections as it takes some moving of furniture. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kathryn Kirk" <bmus@xxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <pctechtalk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, October 14, 2002 5:53 PM Subject: -=PCTechTalk=- Re: Scanner problem > > I had the same problem with the identical scanner awhile ago and I went to > HP's website along with number that displayed in my 'illegal operation' and > was able to find the help here: > > http://www.hp.com/cgi-bin/cposupport/ccsearch/displayans?sni=hpscanjet318408 > &lang=en&qry=illegal+operation > > Kathryn To unsub or change your email settings: //www.freelists.org/webpage/pctechtalk To access our Archives: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/PCTechTalk/messages/ //www.freelists.org/archives/pctechtalk/
