You know what I can't understand about what happened with the network
connectivity is why I could not re-connect to my wireless network after I
booted into Windows normally?  I tried resetting the router, the repair
function in network connections, rebooting the notebook and finally opted to
do a system restore which brought back my network connection.  And isn't it
odd that I can use the configuration utility to opt to boot into safe mode
and that works, but I cannot restart, hit the F8 key or I get a frozen
desktop?  Odd!

Again, safe mode is designed to boot up without most of the drivers.  If 
your wireless device is one of the ones that isn't included, it won't work 
while in that mode.  I don't know what the parameters would be, but it might

work if you choose Safe Mode with Networking.
