Annie,
    You may have caught something or some device may just be trying to tell 
you that it's tired.  Have you tried booting into Safe Mode and using System 
Restore to take the machine back to just before this problem started?  That 
will tell you whether it's a bug (it goes away) or a dying device (it 
doesn't).
