Richard, Those problems appear to have been with the earliest versions of the update. They've reissued it several times since its original release to remove coding bugs. You can find out if tht's what's causing the issue by uninstalling SP3. It can be found among the Add/Remove items. You'll then want to get the newest copy through Windows Update, regardless of whether the Audio returns or not.
