Judith,
Since Don focused on the AV side, I'll provide some info on
your System
Restore (SR). To make sure it's enabled, right click on My
Computer and
select Properties from the context menu. When it opens, click
on the System
Restore tab and make sure the "Turn off ..." checkbox is clear.
If it
isn't, there's the problem. If it's already unchecked, click on
the C:
drive and then on the Settings button. Make sure there isn't a
check in the
box for turning off SR on this particular drive and that there
is enough
room being dedicated to SR. The default is usually 12%, but it
may be less
on really small drives. The amount shown will also include the
actual size
in MB that is dedicated to it. If it's set too low and you have
the free
space to spare on C:, increase it using the slider. Ok your way
out of all
open Property sheets.
____________
Box was clear and it is set to 12% which is the max.

Next, go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System
Tools > System
Restore to open up the utility. "Restore my computer to ..."
should
already be selected. If true, click Next to open up the
calendar and see if
there are any bold dates. Peace,
GMan
