G, I know, wah wah wah, call whine 1-1.  But I actually do get so 
frustrated I could cry because I really can't afford to physically abuse 
this infernal contraption (meaning me AND the computer!) and I want to 
hurt it :o)  I'm printing these instructions and will do exactly as you 
say, although I've never been to some of these places and it's sort of a 
scary idea.  However, this sounds right and it would be great to have a 
well-behaved machine again, so I'll do it and let you know if it helps. 
If it does, I'll keep a better handle on maintenance from now on, 
promise.  Should I set a restore point before I do this--if this hateful 
thing lets me?  ~Glo

I'm sorry.  I don't mean to poke fun.  It's only that I hear from SO 
many
users who feel this way all the time.  It's the reason I refer to them 
as
infernal contraptions (the computers, not the users).  Still, let's see 
if
we can't force Winders to see things your way a bit more.....
