Actually Java 6 update 12 is the latest, so it might be better if you
uninstall both and then get the latest at:
http://java.com/getjava/

I don't see where you followed my first suggestion of getting rid of the 
older Java 6 update 7 from your system before trying any of that.  Did you 
just forget to type it or did you miss that part of my reply?     :)
