hey Faustus... the proggie I found isn't free, but it is great for doing what you require. found it while helping my Dad with converting his vinyl into cd. it's called wave corrector and can be found here: http://www.wavecor.co.uk I've used it on mp3s that are less than perfect, changing them first to wav format, running them thru wav corrector and then back again with good results.
