-=PCTechTalk=- Re: Repeat: Advice ~ Memory sticks & CIS Benchmark Re: ShopNotes Mag Issue 13 Vol No 3

Hi Janet
I think there may be a bit of a terminology problem. At least for me anyway.
I am not quite sure what you are wanting to do. Let me see if I understand
you correctly.

To me a memory stick is the item that goes into your computer to, in this
case, enlarge the capacity of the memory for the computer. Nothing to do
with backing up per say or the ability to perform a back up.

The 234 GB free says to me that it is telling you that you have 234 GB free
space on your Hard drive. Can you state which particular section in Belarc
this figure is in? If that is the Hard drive, that seems to be a lot of
space especially considering your total Hard Drive space is 250 GB. Again
for me, it does. This depends on what you are doing. If might not be much
for J C Pennys on line order server. :-)

If you are wanting something to back up your Hard Drive when you instruct it
to, or at preset times, there are several software programs that can do
that. That can be done either to the Hard Drive you have in your puter or to
another hard drive rather it is internal or external.

I do not have the slightest idea what a CIS Benchmark is. Are you meaning
the Center for Internet Security?

Benchmarks in general are goals or a set of standards that something (in
this case a computer) is suppose to meet. Have you done a Google search for
CIS Benchmarks?

The little piece of equipment that plugs into a USB port that people can use
for storage is referred to by several names. Some but not limit to are,
flash drive, jump drive, and USB drive. They are not large enough to do a
complete back up of a hard drive.
