Mary Anne,
First of all, you're sending your post to the wrong email address. You've sent
your post/question to PCTechTalk-Moderators@xxxxxxxxxxxxx and this is the wrong
address. This address only passes your message onto the list moderators.
What you need to do is post to this address:
PCTechTalk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
Then, everyone on the list will get your message and have the opportunity to
help you with your problem.
Since you're a new computer user, he's a freebie from one of the moderators
(me):
AOL does not use a classic POP server. Outlook Express requires access to a POP
server in order to use the mail system. Since AOL does not allow access to its
POP server, you cannot use Outlook Express, nor any other standard POP client,
for AOL mail. You must use the standard AOL proprietary mail/portal software.
one alternative is to download AOL's new client, AOL Communicator. AOL
communicator is basically a POP mail client, but since its made by AOL they
give the client access to the mail. So, it would be similar to Outlook Express.
Hope this helps and answers your question.

| I am a fairly new computer user. I wanted to get on Outlook Express but no
one would tell me how to do it, even AOL live help wouldn't tell me, so when I
tried to get on I had to answer some questions I think it was about who was my
server and I just picked out any of the choices. I picked Pop3.02(ie). I am
on AOL. I think I must have picked the wrong one because now when I send
something on OE a gray logon box comes up with my name and password typed in
and when I click on ok, the box goes away and then comes back on again. So I
guess it's rejecting something. When I try to get rid of the box by clicking
on the X or cancel or stop I get kicked off of AOL. I would appreciate any
help you can give me.
