Are you asking about Windows Messenger the network IM service or MSN
Messenger the internet chat/IM service?

To get rid of Windows Messenger got to www.grc.com, click anything to enter
the site and then scroll down to find SHOOT THE MESSENGER. Use that tool to
disable the service.

For MSN Messenger goto ADD/REMOVE Programs and uninstall it... or, if MSN
Messenger is on the Start Menu got to START>ALL Programs>MSN
Messenger>uninstall.
