-=PCTechTalk=- Re: Problem with folders (getting Explore and keeping it)

Another question on same subject ... The problem with using the WinKey + E is
that only the root directory will open with the double panes (in Explore mode).
Most folders are found deeper in the system (like folders on the desktop,
etc.). How do we solve the problem of opening those folders in Explore? ---

Original Question:

Using Windows XP ... I'm having a time trying to get my folders to open in the
"Explore" way (with double panes). Also they open up rather large (not
maximized but not the way I leave them when last using them). Going to Tools,
Folder Options, View, Apply to All Folders ... doesn't help. And in Win 98, to
get the Explore opening (double panes), it was easy making the change in the
"File Types" tab. What I have to do now to get the double panes is to click the
"Folders" button on the Tool bar. What steps does one take in XP to steadily
obtain the Explore look? --- Harold

From: "Sammi" ... I'm sure that someone else will have a better 'technical' way
of doing what you need. But, this is how I do it. When I want to open Windows
Explorer, I use the keyboard...press and hold the WinKey and tap E once. For me
this opens it with double panes. If I am in a place where I want to open a
certain folder with double panes and it hasn't done that...then I click on
"View>Explorer Bar>Folders". It only takes a second to do it this way.

Unfortunately I don't know how to make it stay that way, but other more
knowledgeable people here might be able to help you better. --- Sammi
