Ok, I downloaded the setup file already to have it on hand. I'm going to look online for another external hdd to use for excess files (I'm a fanatic about disc space, I don't like to get close to running out). And thanks for the information about Disk Management. Before I even thought to post to this list I read somewhere about the partitioning software that comes with the O/S and was about to resize my disk and download Win 7. Glad I asked first! ________________________________________ From: Gman <gman.pctt@xxxxxxxxx> Subject: -=PCTechTalk=- Re: Partition Drive Date: Sun, 31 May 2009 17:02:56 -0400 Disk Management is a destructive method for repartitioning already existing partitions & volumes. If there a way to leave most of the drive unpartitioned, you'll be able to later use it to create new ones without hurting the existing OS drive. But if the current install already uses all of the drive, it will have to be destroyed in order to create the additional partitions you need. The free third party app I suggested yeaterday can resize it to make room for additional partitions without destroying the data already present on the main drive. Disk Management cannot do that.
