Ok, I downloaded the setup file already to have it on hand.  I'm going to
look online for another external hdd to use for excess files (I'm a fanatic
about disc space, I don't like to get close to running out).

And thanks for the information about Disk Management.  Before I even thought
to post to this list I read somewhere about the partitioning software that
comes with the O/S and was about to resize my disk and download Win 7.  Glad
I asked first!

Disk Management is a destructive method for repartitioning already existing 
partitions & volumes.  If there a way to leave most of the drive 
unpartitioned, you'll be able to later use it to create new ones without 
hurting the existing OS drive.  But if the current install already uses all 
of the drive, it will have to be destroyed in order to create the additional

partitions you need.

The free third party app I suggested yeaterday can resize it to make room 
for additional partitions without destroying the data already present on the

main drive.  Disk Management cannot do that.
